I have had to reconsider my approach to supporting Taos Ski Valley (TSV) through these assignments. At first, I believed that my project would spearhead a movement to address the awareness the new owner (Louis Bacon) and his team needed to maintain a culture that has arisen in our resort over the last five decades. Along that route, I saw myself motivating the staff and locals into an organized group with a clear message. While the task seemed daunting to say the least, I wanted to be part of a solution to the residual side effects of this change.
Through the processes of zig-zagging (Sawyer, (2013), p.2-4), root cause analysis(https://www.mindtools.com/pages/article/newTMC_80.htm), reflection and reframing the problem statement(Sawyer, (2013), p.32-48), I have shifted my plan to creating a stewardship program for TSV and the the town of Taos to facilitate a more cohesive integration to these changes. The concept is that TSV operates in the Kit Carson National Forest. That means that we all are stakeholders in this dynamic arrangement with TSV Inc., and we all have the right to be involved with these changes. My new approach is to work with TSV Inc. to guide this stewardship, and with the town of Taos to help guide TSV.
