If the Taos Ski Valley (TSV) community can manage the current cultural shift and poor economic conditions we are faced with, we will be more supportive to clients and employees ensuring continued growth for the organization.
The specific steps I plan to take include, but are not limited to:
- Communicate with Christof Brownell, the Mayor of TSV.
- Communicate with Human Resources for support in my work.
- Communicate with my supervisor in order to show transparency in my intentions.
- Communicate with coworkers to create a support effort.
- Attend the company meetings in order to promote this effort.
- Work within the Taos community to maintain a cultural connection with TSV.
I worked on this problem by "Picking the Worst Idea", which I consider to be Wrong theory (Sawyer, 2013, p.44-5), and Ideation(p. 132). This led me to see that I needed to help make the connection through the "Rise to the Occasion" technique (Sawyer, 2013, p.35-6). This 8 step model gave me insight to look for an existing platform to launch my creative strategies.
While reaching out to friends I found out that the Strong at Heart group is working on these problems as well. I found this link:https://www.downtowntaos.com/march-and-april-meeting-summaries/, and took note of the May 14th - 17th workshop.
By taking a fresh look at an old problem, I have found a new goal and way to reach that goal. This problem first appeared to be related to the management of TSV, and didn't seem to have a positive outcome. Now, it feels more like a community involvement issue, that could absolutely have a positive outcome.
My next step is to connect with the Strong at Heart organization, to start a group focused on creating better relations between Taos and TSV. I believe this is the beginning of something great.
